What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
I believe we pay roughly commensurate with mid / top tier practices.
Graduate, Melbourne - 18 Sep 2024
Bakers pays very well for a graduate position and is known for paying its more senior lawyers very well too.
Graduate, Melbourne - 10 Sep 2024
The pay is very good. Bonuses, while available, are discretionary and difficult to achieve as a junior.
Junior Associate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
We are paid well and at least if not above industry standard, especially at the junior level. The bonus scheme is clearly communicated and accessible. Bonuses are not available generally to graduates and junior associates.
Associate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
Pay is commensurate to market rate and very reasonable. No bonuses as a graduate at law.
Graduate, Sydney - 03 Sep 2024
Great above market pay.
Graduate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
We get paid very well at the firm and I am satisfied with the salary. I have not been through the bonus process yet.
Associate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
Not sure about bonus structure yet. Given the size of the firm, the pay is better than a lot of top tier graduate salaries in Melbourne so very satisfied.
Graduate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
Competitive graduate salary, eligible for bonus after you become a general associate (1 year PQE)
Graduate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
I think the pay is great. I have not much to say about bonuses as I am not yet eligible to receive them.
Graduate, Sydney - 03 Sep 2024
Graduates are generally paid pretty well, but there is no bonus scheme for graduates
Graduate, Sydney - 03 Sep 2024
Pay is towards the top end of market for graduates. Bonuses become more relevant with seniority.
Graduate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
The pay is great at my firm.
Associate, Melbourne - 03 Sep 2024
As far as I understand, we are paid a good salary consistent with the top tier firms across Australia. Pay is reviewed half-yearly for the first two years, which have included generous pay increases. Graduates are not eligible for bonuses, however this does not bother me. Overall, I am paid more than most Australians despite only being at the beginning of my career. I can comfortably live within my means, and so my pay is more than sufficient to meet my needs.
Graduate, Sydney - 18 May 2023
I'm not sure they are common at lower levels.
Graduate, Sydney - 16 May 2023
The pay is on par with other big law firms, as far as I am aware. Bonuses are not significant. Pay and bonuses depend on having someone advocate for you, so can feel a little arbitrary.
Graduate, Sydney - 15 May 2023
It's definitely a good place to start as a graduate.
Graduate, Sydney - 15 May 2023
The pay at a graduate level is decent, but I understand that the pay as you go up the ranks becomes very good quite quickly - I believe Bakers pays very competitively at more senior levels
Graduate, Sydney - 12 May 2023
Pay is at the top end of what any of my friends are paid at other firms.
Midlevel, Melbourne - 30 May 2021
Overall, pay could be higher; typically juniors don't get bonuses but this can be task/partner dependent.
Midlevel, Sydney - 20 May 2021
